Remus winced and hurried faster, trying to get lost within the mass of students.
"Oi! Wait up!"
Sirius Black had been trying to make friends with him from the first day. To be fair, James Potter and Peter Pettigrew, the other two 1st year Gryffindor boys, had been trying too, but they had given up after receiving such consistent and negative responses.
Sirius Black, it seemed, was prone to stupidity. A hand grabbed his shoulder and spun him round. Damn.
"Hey! I've been calling you for ages! You mustn't have heard me. The corridors are really noisy."
"Hey, were are you going?"
"Dinner's that way!"
"I'm not hungry."
"Liar!" Black was right. His stalking had gotten so bad that Remus had started avoiding places where Black was, including the great hall.
"Come on, I could hear your stomach in Transfiguration!" He grabbed Remus' arm and tugged. Remus tugged back, scowling.
"I'm going to the library." Black cocked his head and stared at him, before resuming the tugging on Remus' arm, this time in a different direction.
"If you're really not hungry I want to show you something."
"Wha- No! Listen, Black."
"Are you always this snarly Remus?"
"Lupin!" Black looked over his shoulder at Remus with a quizzical expression on his face.
"Lupin! My name is Lupin!"
"Friends call each other by their first names. You can call me Sirius by the way."
"No! Stop!" Remus wrenched his arm free. "Black-"
"Sirius." Remus scowled.
"Sirius." The boys scowled at each other. Well, one did, the other had a look of patient expectance on his face.
"Look, we could do this all day-"
"Sirius." Remus let out a half-scream, grabbed Black's face in his hands and roughly planted a kiss on his lips.
"There, I'm a freak. No one wants to be friends with a freak." He stared at the aristocratic face in front of him for a second before turning towards the library, a heavy feeling tugging at his heart with every step.
"Freaks want to be friends with freaks." Remus froze.
"Huh?" Black strode towards Remus, his scuffed shoes clicking. Remus felt lips connect with his own before they were pulled back.
"There, now I'm a freak." Black grinned at him and pranced in the direction of the Great Hall, calling back:
"Come on, I know you're hungry." Remus blinked and ran after him, waving his arms above his head.
"I'm a Vampire! I'm a Hag! I'm an axe-murderer!"
Black only laughed.
